The Day Hell Froze Over
Sophia allowed her senses to be overrun by the beauty of the land that stood before her. It wasn't the garden of Eden that most humans imagined, but it wasn't far off. She loved the colours the most, as there existed a different light spectrum in this dimension. She found herself momentarily lost in memories that no longer felt like her own. In spite of having her soul restored, she felt different to the Divine creation she had started out as. She had imbued lifetimes of experience with the human condition, and as such, no longer knew where she belonged. Her body was of one place, her consciousness came from the other. It felt strange, actively trying to reconcile the two.

The Devil's table
The Devil sat at one end of the table. His son, Lucan, squirmed uncomfortably in the chair opposite him, and Sophia found herself in the middle glancing from one to the other. The situation cemented her belief that a bullet had in fact lodged itself into her brain matter, and all of this was just a coma-induced hallucination, experienced from the lonely confines of a hospital bed. It also told her she was more messed up than she thought if this is where her mind chose to take her! But, she went along with it. After all, Dinner with the Devil, what could possibly go wrong?

So Below
Lucan stood tall in the depths of hell. He couldn't go above, so he had no choice but to venture below. An explosion of fury and panic had imbued his mind. A white kind of rage he had never felt before, and he had lived a long time, took over his heart; making his blood pump in a way he actually felt truly alive. For the first time ever he experienced the grasp of fear tighten itself around his naked soul. Where is she? Was the only question worth repeating.

As Above
Sophia's eyesight was seared with a brilliant white light as she was catapulted from one dimension to another. Her vision blurred, as prisms of multicoloured reflections danced around her. She felt she was flying through a rainbow, and once on the other side a world different than her own came into focus.

Fragile
Lucan sat patiently while Sophia tried to make sense of what had just happened. He could see the cogs of her mind churning in overdrive, chaotic thoughts fighting against each other for some semblance of order. Her lips parted at regular intervals as if speaking unpronounced words. He placed his hands over her trembling ones and reminded himself to be gentle. The human mind was a fragile thing, a fracture in the wrong place, at the wrong time could shatter even the strongest of souls.

A While to Find you
Sophia felt the mist of slumber slowly evaporate as early morning rays flickered over the tops of her closed eyelids. She remained semi unconscious as long as possible trying to chase a dream already lost to oblivion. A tingling sensation lingered at the centre of her forehead. She raised a hand to it and winced. What the hell? She thought. She swung her legs over and looked into the vanity mirror only to notice a small burn mark right between her eyebrows.

Talking to myself.
I know this time of year is all about setting goals and resolutions, but it's hard to think about personal achievement, when you feel the entire world is on the brink of collapse. Not that I've ever been good at determining the direction of my own life. I have yet to find my purpose or passion. I feel like I just tag alongside the current of life instead of feeling its electricity arc inside of me.
