I took her word for it and kept on grinding. I started being featured in the paper regularly, and more people were recognizing my talent. But the main people's approval that I sought out the most were my parents. I updated them regularly about my success and they just didn't seem to care. No matter how much I was making, they wanted me to get a "real" job. And that broke my heart. The two people who I thought would support me the most in my journey, were discouraging me instead. It was really a let down. But I didn't let it stop me.

My teacher was walking around the room conversing with everyone. When she got to my table, she complimented my sketches. "Oh my goodness, Andy! These drawings are outstanding." She continued to ask me about what I was going to do with the sketches. "They're for the strip in the paper. I submit to them every now and then, but I don't think they're good." She was appalled by my statement. As if I had offended her. She reassured me that they were the best she had seen and that I should keep going. She thinks that I'll make it big someday.
