Welcome to the End

Descriptive Poem of the Dead End Lives in Northern England

It's an early morning,

Navy sky,

With the silhouettes of bare tree branches,

And fog smothered orange street lamps that illuminate up high,

In the distance is civilisation coming to the realisation they've done nothing with their life,

And the men hate their wives,

And the wives hate their men too,

And the children and their rebellious nature are unloved and they hate ya!

Welcome to the 9 to 5 life.

Finally the mist ascends off green fields by a clogged motorway,

Streetlights still light up the cities businessmen,

Work, work, work,

Life optional,

Sally said life's different shades of grey,

She's wrong,

It's a simple black and white life,

And it's alright.

Losing dreams at a train station in the rain,

What made the world twist this way?

Acting that happy personified is you,

Out on the town every weekend,

You're still drowning your sorrows on a Tuesday afternoon,

Where will it end?

You want someone to be unhappy with,

Still dark when you get to work,

Is it gonna last forever?

I guess you're not that clever to live a dream.

Reading the paper on a six o'clock train,

About war, Page 3 and too much rain,

Who were you? And who are you now?

Locked up in this cage of a world,

Dreams have been cancelled until further notice,

Your lovers been thrilled by others more than once,

And your life takes the piss.

Deluded in your opinions,

You're not Kings and Queens,

You're broken wedding rings and amphetamines.

Welcome to the end.
