Unspun

how it ends

Counting days, go one by one

Plans once made, never done

Lapses in time, now unexplored

Paths then seen now disappear

come walk.

watch lilacs bloom.

snow has melted.

grass is new.

let's make plans for the summer,

while we relish one another,

before a new season arrives,

forgetting we once were so alive.

I can still taste your angry infidelity

Boiling over under a canopy of live oaks

Dropping me to my knees

When we knew wrong from right

and dark from light

Silver tongue and slivered love

Caresses moved and cares undone

Beauty poured in erect beaux

Raising rising little full toes

When the longing and love subside, will?

After blood clots and scars form, then?

Once bodies rot and souls fly, who?

Before voices die and quiet falls, what?

Are ever wrongs righted, when?

Roses remained red, pink, and bleeding

Violet hearts, cyanotic and slinking

Fidelity loosened, charred, and fleeting

Scars made a home, petals keep screaming

Doors left closed, knock no more

Flittering frames, uneven score

Simply said and faithfully done

Now crumbling down the web unspun

sad poetry
