The Weight

There is so much of it.

If I just hold onto this,

If I just carry it a little longer,

Long enough for it to weigh me down,

Long enough for it to crush me,

Beneath the waves with rocks and soil,

Pouring down around me,

All my bitterness and sorrow.

I don't know why it hits me,

I don't know what to do,

I know your heart ain't in it,

So what am I left with to do?

I just keep moving,

Keeping carrying on,

Keeping pulling these feelings with me,

Until I can't go on.

I'll let you know I'm fine,

Watch you walk away,

Unhindered by my burden,

Sheltered from the weight.
