Today a Storm
You could see a storm today,
Riding on the winds of change,
Turning light-blue skies to gray,
And descending on the range.
~
There may come a torment soon
To the hillocks of the grange,
And the shades of sun and moon
It will darkly rearrange.
~
Clouds will gather in a swarm,
Swirling in the spheral blue,
Raising chaos and alarm
Like the roiling of a brew.
~
But the thing about a storm
That is always good and true…
It is not the wonted norm
And will always pass on through.

Melancholy
The Unfinished Song
I can’t stop thinking of you,
No matter how I try,
My thoughts are at an impasse,
My head is in the sky.
~
I end up in the same place,
No matter what I do;
With all the things before me,
I think of only you.
~
I think of only you,
It’s you I have to find;
And when I go to sleep,
I have you on my mind.
~
I’m trapped inside a puzzle
With no apparent clue,
And lost in rhyme and rhythm,
I think of only you.
~
I think of only you,
It’s you I have to find;
And when I go to sleep,
I have you on my mind.

Building Blocks
The Hidden Letter
There is a wall that I once built,
Without a particle of guilt.
~
Upon this wall I fixed a shelf;
I trued the levels in myself.
~
The shelf in time collected books
From diff’rent recesses and nooks.
~
In one such book, I turned a page,
Marked by the wear and tear of age…
~
And on that page, a paragraph,
Highlighted by some bygone staff.
~
One sentence stands out from the rest,
Italicized and boldly pressed;
~
And in that sentence is a word
That’s often spoken, seldom heard.
~
For in that word, a character
Elides itself through slip and slur.
~
Upon that shelf upon that wall
A letter hides from one and all.
