Selfish Gods

An Ill Society

Can you see the consequences of your actions?

Do you not see the evil that invades our lives?

Is your hypocrisy not bad enough to fix?

Down with the pursuit of our selfish needs and wants.

But it seems that this twisted world is too late now.

Our liberties and freedoms are now a lost cause.

The push for the individual is the virus.

We tossed to the side our faith and our family.

No honor or respect for fathers and mothers.

Disregard for our struggling brothers and sisters.

Curse God for not granting your every single wish.

Woe is you for not losing the weight you aimed for.

Did He shove the McDonald's burgers down your throat?

Woe is you for not being promoted at work.

Was it He that made you laze about at your desk?

This sense of entitlement is so childish.

We have ascended ourselves to be gods on earth.

Gods that throw temper tantrums left and right daily.

Shriek and cry all you want as you shake your rattles.

I've had enough of this egotistical drab.

What an ill society that flaunts arrogance.

I am proud to be this and am proud to be that.

Well whoop dee doo for you and all your grand glory.

Call me back when you decide to become humble.

Modesty is the rare glance of God from humans.

I loathe myself for heeding to the swill of self.

"Follow your dreams they will definitely come true."

"You need to think about yourself and what you want."

"Go and have your own life and let nothing stop you."

Remember, "Who tries to keep their life will lose it."

So what is the cure that will put an end to this?

Stop looking inward and see the world around you.

God has bigger plans to handle than your success.

Please don't have a hissy fit with this simple truth.

You are not gods and you never will be.
