Pieces

Taped

Things break, they fall apart right in your hands.

No matter how tightly you hold on to it, it just crumbles.

Pieces start to fall from your grasp as you frantically scramble to pick things up so you can reassemble what you have. Sorry, I mean had.

You keep sticking the pieces back together, you keep trying to glue them back. But they keep failing.

How many times is it going to take to realize it’s all just a jumbled mess now? How many pieces of tape have to be cut for you to understand things that break can’t be put back together. Sure for awhile it will hold. Then suddenly you’re holding on to it and you realize your tape is flaking and pushing it down isn’t going to cut it this time.

You can beg and plead with the repair man, even after he says he doesn’t think things will ever be the same but he will try. He will try to glue back the piece of your world you’re so tightly holding on to even though he knows there’s nothing that can be done.

We’ve all been there though, haven’t we?

You can walk into my closet and you can see the broken pieces of past decisions making up a reflection of who i use to be and who i have become.

In due time you’ll be able to place the last piece on display so that you never forget the things you fought for. Eventually you’ll have it locked away and you’ll only open it when you’re looking for some peace of mind.

You can hold on to the pieces and frantically try to push them back together for as long as you need to, just make sure you understand that all you’re doing is cutting yourself with the ragged pieces while someone else says they’re looking for the tape.
