Those Who Paid the Price

for those who paid the price

Fly the flag or fly a kite;

Show the colors, clear and bright.

See the people everywhere;

There is freedom in the air.

See the marching in the street;

See the young one catch a treat.

And the veterans you see,

Thank them all for liberty.

Have the leisure of the day,

Have a cookout, swim and play;

Take a moment in the sun

To remember even one.

Settle back and watch a game

While so many do the same;

And before the rip and roar,

Say the words and hum the score.

When the weekend has gone by

Don’t forget the reason why,

It might not be all so nice

But for those who paid the price.
