Leftover Fool

A Poem and a Song

A Fond Memory...

Went walking down to our fishing hole today

just want to touch the things you used to say

back when we were together

back when we were in love

I touched the place where we kissed under the tree

I touched the place where we first came to be

I touched our favorite place we would go

mmm... it was just like old times... there in my soul

mmm... it was the best of times... best of times

Tell me do you practice all the things you say?

Do you wake up in the morning and plan your day?

tell me how many girls do you do a con on?

tell me I'm not the only leftover fool?

do you love and leave by some sort of rule?

do you have more than me still holding on?

Can you remember when we would pack a lunch?

We'd lay under that tree and love so much

I remember how you would take my face in your hands

I remember how I was your woman and you were my man

mmm... it was just like old times... there in my mind

mmm... it was the best of times… best of times
