I never had a reason to know the meaning of love, because after all every time I tried I would fall.
See it’s a lot like a kite that took me many tries to master, I struggled to get it into the sky then it would crash into a tree and end in disaster.
But one day a boy came along tall enough to untangle my mess from the tree, and for the first time he didn’t just look at the mess, but he also looked at me.
His smile was innocent as he laughed at my ridiculous comments, but his eyes were full of stories that caught me up in the moment.
This boy plucked my kite from the tree and showed me how to put it back together again. In the chaos of this world I love to stop and think of that now and then.
He boosted my kite up into the sky, and she caught a gust of wind, and we watched and we proudly grinned.
Occasionally we hit moments where the string begins to fray, that only happens on a cloudy day.
So we replace the string with stronger thread, and it flies up high avoiding the riverbed.
I’ve never had someone hold my hand as I try to mend my kite, so I thank my lucky stars for meeting you that one summer night.
