Handful of Stars

An Escape Into the Sky

Grab a handful of those stars,

String them on a chain of enchantment and far away dreams.

It’s funny to think that a year could seem to pass by like nothing,

But a second,

A second could mean everything.

Look back, at beautiful and haunting pasts,

You remember it all in a second without even trying.

Yet, everyone seems to think that each moment passes by too slowly.

If you believe in God,

Then you have no reason not to believe in yourself

If you believe in the scientific explanation in everything,

Then you have no reason to doubt yourself.

To exist, but not to live the life that fades,

Like the color from the sky as day melts into night,

As the warmth alleviates off our bodies,

As the temperature cools, and the caress of a small breeze,

Brushes your cheek, raising the pores on a stretched out arm,

Reaching out to the moon, never to take hold of an idealists dreams…

A distant implausible goal, people would call it.

Infinite in conviction is a dreamer’s mind.

The concept of entropy is spoken about a lot in scientific discussion.

Entropy states that everything in the world is in a constant state of decline and decay.

This is scientific fact. There is, however, one exception.

The human spirit is always growing and evolving with every experience.

So tell me then, how is it possible for us not to have hope for a brighter tomorrow?

Tell me then, how am I expected not to try?

If I could, I would speak my words into stardust,

Scatter it upon our generation,

Let our souls transcend,

Gain wisdom as we travel skywards,

Let stress fade into oblivion,

Relive our fondest memories,

Nail our nightmares to forsaken crosses,

Love so hard that our hearts bleed a river of experience, of bliss, of ecstasy, of knowledge and wisdom.

Leave what you think you know of this world behind,

Dive into the concept of the re-evaluation of the intricacy of the human soul.

Do me a favor and love yourself.

You are the product of two lost souls finding themselves in one another’s eyes,

And in finding themselves… they are infinite.

Time is a concept that exists only to us

We need it to keep track of ourselves

Without it, we lose who we are

The time it takes for the light to travel

From the star that illuminates my darkest night

To my eyes that see only the surface at times

And at other times, the deepest depths of the most Atlantian soul

Is only a couple minutes

That star would go out at some point,

And I could be looking up at it one night

And not even know

Sometimes, I can’t find the time to breathe,

The breath gets caught in my throat,

Like a constant tug of war between my soul and society.

They say that time heals all wounds,

But these scars on my heart can’t seem to fade completely.

The time taken to make a conscious decision may seem like a lifetime,

The time that is taken to make a subconscious decision than a millisecond

Both of them can influence your life in the same degree

To do anything in this life, we have related everything back to a time

To form an opinion or conceive a thought

We complain about how long everything takes to happen

But we never appreciate the moment that we’re experiencing

In the beautiful moments, I want to stop time so I can fully take in what is happening

Something to never happen again

Embracing life and giving meaning to a dying conviction

To a virtue of substantial acceptance.
