Goodnight Sweet Gaia

Gaias Love by Robby Donaghey

He loved her far too much and far too fast.

He loved her at the wrong time.

He was fire and she was earth.

The problem was, fire scorches earth.

His love for her seized his heart and paralyzed his brain.

A philosopher with immense intensity and a gargantuan heart,

he looked into her Atlantean eyes and held in the water that doused his flame.

"There's no way I can bring myself to burn this forest down,” he thought.

Still, he wanted to kiss her with all the intensity he could muster.

Unfortunately, he knew he’d transform her into ember and refrained.

Even love wasn’t just cause to burn her from the roots,

so he let his tears douse his heart.

Volcanic rock cooled down to sediment.

Though he hugged her like she was the ground he walked on,

he said goodnight and left.

Crying as he walked to his car, he was now just a measly flicker.
