Goatee and All
I remember the mornings in the halls.
When it came to writing, I always loved poetry. I don't consider myself that great at it, but I do enjoy the process very much. This was a poetry assignment in college, and I was, and still am, proud of the piece. This poem speaks the truth about my struggle and heartbreak in love. But this writing brings back the memories of how I have become a truer version of myself. Enjoy...

Goatee and All
I’ve rehearsed the conversation over and over,
Like pages on a script.
I try to muster the strength,
The courage,
To tell you how I feel.
I remember the mornings in the halls,
And the butterfly-effect you have on me.
All the memories fill my head,
And I see you vividly.
Goatee and all.
I never dated.
Never kissed.
Just wanted a chance with you.
But even I knew,
That wasn’t a reality.
Wishes were spent,
But none of them came true.
Nonetheless,
I’d want you to love me honestly.
Not because I wanted you to.
