Fire

You Didn't Seem Bright Enough to Be

I got burned

Did I play with fire?

Oh but hot damn are you fire

As in you burn everything around you

Right down to the ground

I guess I overlooked the road signs

Since literally everyone else saw it coming

Whilest I was blissfully unaware

I'm not sure why you keep coming back

Didn't burn me enough last tie?

Are you not satisfied until I'm broken ash

Because I will not break beneath you

Your flames ain't that bright love

You can only burn lesser things

And darling I'm above you

But you need Oxygen to transform to ash

And well I haven't breathed in years

So I'm sorry

But it can't happen

Didn't anyone ever warn you fire only burns the living?

Not the skeletons hiding in my internal closet

Of which I am becoming

Didn't anyone ever warn you fire burns outside in?

And it will consume you

For that I am sorry

But I refuse to burn

Even if it would save you

heartbreak
