Breaking My Own Promises Before Spring
This poem is about breaking new years resolutions.
Eleven days until the new year.
I will break my own promises before spring.
My bad habits will be in full rotation before the snow even melts and long before the birds fly back for the season.
This is a time to make resolutions and promises.
Save money.
Lose weight.
Eat healthy.
Quit smoking.
Have better behavior and burn fewer bridges.
Start fewer fires that require others to put out for you.
Be less destructive emotionally and financially.
Quit drugs.
Go to rehab.
I will break my own promises before spring.
I will let myself down.
Change can never be put on a schedule.
It has to happen gradually over time to have any kind of effect.
I will break my resolutions before the flowers bloom,
And the smell of freshly cut grass hits the air.
