Back to Zen

This poem is about letting go and healing from a toxic friendship.

I slammed the door shut first.

I dared to give up and walk away.

I am not lonely.

I would rather be left alone.

Hermitage suits me well.

Back to Zen.

Away from a land where my positives are twisted into negatives.

A place where snakes come out of the grass to hunt me.

Where enemies pretend to be friends.

Back to Zen.

Back to only spending time with those, I can trust.

Time is a valuable thing.

I have wasted hours on needy shapeshifters.

I wish I had that time back to spend with those who matter.

Back to Zen.

I am healing and I will rise above.

Mind over matter.

My vision and path are clear.

Stray holly-hocks will not grow over my path.

They will not consume my mind.

They will not make me question why I wasted all this time building them up, only to have them suffocate me in the process.

My head is out of the clouds.

I now walk on the ground.

I sucked the poison from my veins.

I closed the portal to hell.

I am done with those who play the victim for attention.

I wish her healing and to rise above her past circumstances.

She dwelled in the past too long and now it consumes her every thought.

She needs to close the book and stop looking back.

Don't read chapters over and over.

You already know how they will end.

Back to Zen.

I will pray for her, but like a puppet on a string, I must break free.

I must ride the giant swan ride at the zoo alone.

Only then will I be at peace.

Only then will I be back to my zen.

We float away like two lotus flowers in different directions.

I know I will never cross your bridge ever again.

I lock the door to my garden tightly.

My guards will show you out.

You are banished from this land.
