A Growing Rose

A Poem about Growth

A rosebud forms new life, is sprouted

Drinking the dew of each morning's kiss

Rising up for golden sunbeams

Seeking sustenance and nourished bliss

Its stem growing strength to push it higher

Thorns are sharp to protect from harm

Take great care when coming close

Protective touch with loving balm

The petals throw wide their colourful splendour

Display to all its radiant hue

A smell so fragrant a welcome call

Refreshment from the morning dew

In readiness now to be displayed

Provide great joy whether one or few

As time passes a petal falls

A certain sign of growing due
