I used to be in a shell. In it, there were rules: Don't talk, unless spoken to. Don't be yourself, because you're pathetic. Don't ever try to leave.
If only. If only it could work. If only we had time. If only our schedules fit as well as the zipper of your loose sweater.
I smile. I enjoy my day. I see good people. I do good things. I feel it. Confident. Comfortable. Happy. I make someone feel good.
Why do I write? No, I am not always depressed. No, I am not always in pain. No, I am not trying to change the world. I write for the small soul.
