Your True Self

On the journey to find myself

I discovered someone else

I wasn’t sure just what to do

Could one person also be two?

A new start here made me see

Which of them I was to be

Which part of me was really true

Which part of me was truly new

A change of life let me see

Who it was that I should be

I shed myself like a second skin

And left it where I had been

I started out completely fresh

And found out which me I liked the best

To find yourself is a task

That will never happen very fast

It can take you your entire life

Or it can happen over night

I simply found who I was to be

I found what would make the real me

Now I must try to be myself

Not to be that someone else

Always be true to who you are

Because being yourself can take you far
