Your Love Was as Ephemeral as Flowers

I miss you.

I have always dreamed of meeting someone like you

Although mamma warned me

She told me about your type

She said your blood was like mercury

That it would creep into my veins

Until it was only one with mine

And that I wouldn’t see it until you’d leave…

But you said you’d never leave right?

You looked at me with your sea colored eyes

And promised me forever.

I should’ve known forever had no meaning

I had seen forever end when dad left mom

But with you it took another meaning.

Endless days spent in your arms

Believing you had come down from heaven

My own angel, only mine.

You were my first, my last, my only

Never thought you’d say goodbye

But the summer faded and autumn came

Days grew shorter

Mornings got colder

And my heart ached for your calls

Calls that never came

And now with eyes bright red

I’m wondering what I did wrong

They tell me to forget about you

That you were just like all the rest

And so I’m doing what I’m told

While the water turns to pink

I say goodbye in my own way

Once again she has been right

You were an angel…

Fallen though,

Blessed once, you might have been

But Satan’s flames were in your eyes.
