Young Boy

Young boy, ya he comes from a small town.

And this town is the type of place that'll just drag him down.

The boy is smart, but family struggles brings him to sell drugs to help his mom pay for some of the bills.

Take care of his younger brother and pay for stuff they both want, and understand seeing this struggle is something deep down, it truly kills.

Grew up faster than needed, so much potential, but making money was always something bigger.

Felt the weight on his shoulders to take care of his family, finding ways to keep the heat on during the winters.

Even on days that are hard, young boy is never bitter, because he sees the bigger picture.

Put his life and dreams on hold, he's going to be there for his family when needed, lets just call him the fixer.

So much talent this boy was a baller but didn't live to his full potential.

Would go to school during the season but besides that grades would slip he was missing the essentials.

He had the heart but no motivation, he knew this town didn't have the resources to take him where he wanted to go.

Junior and senior year, time to get noticed but got kicked off the team, now he's left with nothing to show.

Now he drops out of school, reminiscing on what he could've been and not what he could still be.

Now his dreams are a fantasy of the past,

if only he stayed in school till the end, until it was all complete. Boy well known, but for now we'll just call him the athlete.

Young boys, ya they come from a small town.

And this town is the type of place that'll just drag them down.

So much talent in a place that gets so much negative vibes.

But like J. Cole implied, it's two faced, before you judge you need to see both sides.

Intelligent kids out here just trying to survive.

Providing for there families, give up college just to go work nine to five.

Be aware of these young boys coming from all these small towns.

Because these small towns will drag them down, and all they want to do is try to make it out.
