You Were Right

Written for Those Who May Never Bare Witness

I feel hated by those I love

And distant from those who love me

I'm a disappointment to any and all

Who believed I could offer so much more.

I feel alone, surrounded by "love"

I just don't get it, why can't I live in peace?

Those who know me seem to hate me,

None aware I'd die to see them happy.

I thought I was a good person

I thought I was kind and caring

I thought I would be appreciated

I thought I would be loved.

But I thought wrong, and I'm left to face that alone.

You are never right,

But you weren't wrong;

Karma struck back today and I miss my home,

My toothbrush and bed

My brother and warm meals.

I miss safety and sanity.

But I can't miss you and that's why I'll never admit,

You Were Right.
