You Saved Me...

A Poem

You saved me.

As your breath warmed my arm...

I counted your eye lashes as you slept.

Traced your beautiful pale skin...

With my humbled proud eye.

Your golden hair is getting darker.

As your body now lays longer...

Covering well over half my old bed.

As I listen to you snore....

My arm is now numb...

Through the blinds comes the sun...

I think back to when our journey begun.

You could fit entirely within my arm.

When we first slept together.

Your tiny head within my hand...

Seems like so long ago.

My dreams were to see you grow...

To be there for you forever...

As our bodies age, times change...

My dreams are the same.

I wonder what you're dreaming now.

Within your perfect 7 and a half year old head.

I hope that there are thoughts and feelings...

That are so positive and you remember all I've said.

Your body starts to stir.

You barely open your eyes...

You kiss my numb arm...

Bring it feeling and back to life.

It dawns on me, this is what you do.

What you have done all of your life.

You fill me with love, with an energy...

That makes me know everything will be alright.

You see although you are the child.

I am a man growing old.

You are an Angel in disguise...

That I am lucky to hold.

See I held you in my mind before your birth.

I held you everynight as a baby.

The greatest reward was mine...

God aligned heaven and earth and gave me...

You to hold, I hold still today...even as a little lady.

I will hold you forever my precious daughter...

Because its you that saved me.
