A Poem

you’re a prick! Like a needle

but i’m thread, and with all my strength

i’d hold together every hole it takes

to keep the fabrics of our lives from falling apart

to keep your wounds closed so you can finally heal

to keep your favorite shirt from give up so you still smile

when you see me in your seams

and when you leave here to collect all the layers of cloth life has to offer

will i be the thread you choose to use in the quilt that makes up your skin

when you are nothing more than just that

skin and layers
