You and Us

Unexpected beginnings may very well lead to our most desired outcomes.

I didn’t know I wanted youYou were so sure of meStaring as if you knew meAt what, I couldn’t see

One of the few who really triedMy attention was not so easily caughtHaving to be convinced of the real thingAre you here for real or what?

And when I knew it had to be youI thought I stood no chanceEver still so eager you called for meAnd I fell in love by happenstance

The way your lip curled when you spokeYour fingers’ dance upon my skinThose hazel eyes that saw right throughThat smooth and mischievous grin

Never had I met a match to call my ownSouls connected with no effort at allChallenging each other in almost every facetWe were anything but dull

Still I questioned your intentionsMy inner demons forever peaking through the cracksIn turn you questioned my characterYour past horrors often coming back

We all know neither is perfectPlease never venture such a featJust know there is nothing we can’t passThere is certainly nothing we can’t beat

Though we struggle to completely trustAnd there’s no denying the work we needThere is no one else more right for your leftNothing more fitting than you and me
