you and i should head to Florida in October
when the sands not blazing hot and the college kids are sober
when no one else ocean minded is around
when the shouts of summer have ceased to sound
you and I should hit the beach on Halloween
when the waves are thick with storms and the boardwalk is swept clean
we could see for miles and not lay an eye on a soul
we could talk around a bonfire and discuss how we’d grow old
you and I should rush ashore after summer
you’d meet a girl, one like me, and learn to love her
we’d spend our days in coastal haze and wistful laughter
we’d be happy in the present and hereafter
