You and I

A Poem about Potential

You and I...

Could birth a nation,

Stimulate the minds of the masses,

Ignite passions that lie dormant...

If only you would see me.

See me for who I am,

Who I am not,

Who I was and strive to become.

See me not with your eyes,

For looks often deceive.

See me not with your mind,

For thoughts can manipulate.

Break down the barriers,

Peel back the thorn infused layers

Peer deep within...and feel my soul.

Feel how it radiates insecurity and confidence,

Weakness and strength,

Chaos and balance,

Youth and wisdom.

See me,

And see yourself through me.

You and I are not so different.

You and I are not a chance encounter.

You and I...should birth a nation.
