Would You Be My One?
My promise to you
If I promise the skies to you,
The moon the stars and the brightness of the galaxies;
If I promise you my love,
That it will be as steady as a rock and faithful like the rising sun;
If I promise you my heart, that it will only beat for you;
My mind, that it will only think of you,
My life, that I will only live for you
Would you take my hand?
Would you sow the galaxies and conquer the world with me?
Would you stand by me even if the lights switched off
And, there seems to be no hope for tomorrow?
Would you run with me?
Would you hold my hand tightly till am frail with no sight, almost losing my mind (old me)?
Would you be my one?

Ameera looked at the fat paunch and florid face of her boss, a man who lived for the story and the kudos it brought him but who rarely gave consideration to the people behind the drama. When had he become so hard? She reckoned that by the end of the year, he'd be dead, collapsed from a heart attack and she struggled to conjure any sympathy in that moment and instantly felt ashamed at displaying the same lack of compassion that he had.
