Wonderlust

Goodbye to an Online Love

There was a time when I wanted to be by your side,

Connected only by an internet connection,

That lying love only in pixels,

But felt so real.

I convinced myself that if I told you I loved you enough,

You would start to feel that way too.

You were never really here,

Half a million miles away.

But my love for you, my dear, could stretch that far.

I believed in you for so long,

I wanted to explore you like a country

Experience you like a wonder of the world

But my dreams turned to dust.

So, we fall apart.

My heart, still beating, without you in it.

And that's okay.

I’ve moved on,

Maybe you have too.

And maybe, this isn’t a goodbye,

Or an apology.

It’s poetry.

It’s a Eulogy.

For who I was,

When I was in love with you.
