Witness

The moon has always witnessed me alone...

I walk along a small, dark street,

When a light catches my eye.

I look up to a full, glowing moon

And let out a deep, loving sigh.

Have you ever seen anything so beautiful,

My voice echoes in the night.

I have, a voice replies, I’m lucky that she’s mine,

And her beauty’s just as bright.

A blush begins to spread across my cheeks,

As he slips his hand in mine.

A swell of love blooms within me

And I take it as a sign.

Kiss me, I said suddenly,

Looking in his eyes so blue.

The moon has always witnessed me alone,

I want it to witness me with you.

He smiles and presses his lips to mine

And the rest of my heart becomes his.

He grazes his lips against my ear and says,

My love, I promise you this...

Your heart is safe with me, in mine,

And it has always been.

I’ll never let you stand alone

Beneath the moon again.
