Wishbone

Sophie from "Howl's Moving Castle."

I gave you a piece of my wishbone

For wishes to me that were unknown

It was white and small, but mighty

Three wishes given but you were thirsty

The marrow was cracked and abused

The love and hate was deeply infused

You wished upon my intelligence

I was drowning in your arrogance

You wished upon my warming grace

I stared back at your unwelcoming face

Again you wished on my love and lust

The bone decayed away its trust

A wish from my yellow soul

By now I knew I wasn’t whole

I made one wish to have your heart

It was so easy for you to disregard

Who I was and what I’d done

You were my cold moon and I was your sun

But my warmth wasn’t befitting

Out of wishes so now I am sitting

Staring at my ugly wishbone

Full of absurd wishes unknown
