Wings

Healing

It all started when I was young. The pain began to devour my small, soft heart. As I grew older it seemed as though my wings were fading. I began to fall slowly into the sins of this cruel world. I began doing and saying things I would have never done before. One sip, and I was done for. One hit, and I was addicted. One kiss, and I became a slave to your horror. I loved you more and more with each passing day. The more I loved you, the more my pain grew. My wings had finally ceased to exist. I was no longer in flight, just falling, deeper and deeper into this darkness. I spent years in the dark with you, making you smile and giving you all that was mine. Until one day, you grew bored of my undying company. You found love under the sheets with another. I calmly forgave you, knowing that I could never un-love your dark entity. You saw I was never going to leave, so you left. You left me in this darkness, with my wings nowhere to be found. I strived off of what small amount of life I could find. Finally, something new happened, and in the midst of the darkness a small angel found me. His wings burned and his halo melted. Yet, I was so intrigued I couldn't find the strength to look away. He compelled my mind and what was left of my faded heart. This broken, weary traveler let me stay by his side. To this day we still walk this world together. Only now, we walk hand in hand as lovers. He's healed my faded heart and given me the strength to find my wings again.
