I often judge others’ awareness, for I never,

mistake artificial flowers for real.

Natural flowers maneuver the air, dancing,

Accepting nature’s hand and allowing it to lead, as a partner should.

Each time the plant tries to take lead,

the dance will begin sacrificing its fluidity.

The Riodinidae Metalmark butterfly flies over Copenhagen fields

of brilliant pink and shy yellow marguerite daisies,

expanding acre upon acre of gently rolling Danish hills.

Have you watched the leaves, do they speak to you too?

I want their leisure

The buds’ excitement of flowering,

The sweet clover loving the honey bees.

I want their selflessness,

Not once asking for recognition,

For their contributions materialize in hexagons.

Sacrifice compounds

I want their sense of self.

To live each moment, without fear of the next

Because every moment,

is the most important time of your life.

So when you embrace your father,

Squeeze his frame,

Smell his cologne,

Listen to his breathing,

feel his breast spread over yours,

For you never know what tomorrow may bring.
