A field of flowers woven, a safety net for a child
to nourish her innocence and set free her smile.
A delicate heart, that was told to be quiet
heard instead a whisper uncaging her wild.
Sent away to the freedom, otherwise unable to find
Locked away from herself until an appointed time.
Apart from her spirit the daughter grew old
away from her heart and the key that it holds.
Fighting a battle she was alone and cold
past the unbearable sound of her breaking soul
her ears heard a whisper, though soft and faint
a familiar voice that was keeping her safe.
She got pictures and glimpses of long past days
giving her hints of where her inner kid remains.
Through the touch of the wilderness gleaming with light
she could not remember, yet with tears she tried
Hearing only an echo of a voice inside.
But that whisper grew louder, calling her name
Showing her dreams of that beautiful place.
She’d start to believe, but her hope quick to fade
because the torment around her cut deep as a blade.
The echo fought the battles she did not see.
Her heart so wounded seeking comfort in trees
she would sit and listen to the birds that would sing
giving part of the puzzle with the comfort they’d bring.
She was growing stronger with every new piece
walking further and further down a path of belief.
Her heart was so brave not everyone could see
she had doors to unlock yet she’d found no key.
Then one day it clicked, when she returned to that place
following the sound in the memories she’d made.
The voice now as loud as a thunderstorm
he showed her herself in the light she was born.
He talked of her bravery and sacrifice she made
to take care of her heart and preserve her fate.
It was in that moment the child found her home,
she saw herself raw, from youth to old
loving every intricate part so fiercely and bold.
But that’s not the end because the whisper still told
of the brave little girl and the key that she holds.
