Why Did I Fall in Love with You?

"Why did you fall for him?” “Because I saw the best version of me in his eyes."

It’s 3 AM. I’m laying in bed, listening to the rain fall, thinking of you and how much I wish you were here, cuddled up next to me.

I didn't fall in love

for convenience,

or for body...

Maybe God

told me allow

my heart to be taken,

wrapped in metal

and salt.

Salting my wounds,

and licking my scars,

maybe I fell in love

while I was painting

the stars and caressing

the moon...

Just maybe I opened

my eyes to beauty

in the form of wolf...

I can't howl your name

on my tongue or caress

it in the beating of my gums.

I fell in love with you

because deep down I felt

it, as though I found

my missing piece

to my heart covered puzzle.

Yet, love is pain, arguments

and discussions with breaks

sitting in the back of the unconscious...

I fell in love because

I could feel my walls breaking

down, my heart opening

itself from ice covered arteries.

Just maybe I fell in love,

without a pinpoint

to give or show in my eyes.

Loving is hard with its ups

and downs but I fell in love

with you because I felt

something in my heart the day

I saw you again.

I fell in love with wounds

and scars while my walls

started crashing down

but I'm still in love.
