Who We Are in the Dark

Love and Death and Night

here we are again

sweetheart

you called me that

I repel away

thinking it felt right

but unable to admit

it was only for mothers

and their babies

not this thing

which lingers in mirrors

there is no way to not fall

asleep in the night

no way to divert

the great and terrible dream

of you and me and us

no way to pin it up

tying red strings together

to the hovering board

just to have it all fold inwards

close up your mouth

sweetheart

I’m there with you in the dark

grasping at straws

wishing you well

do you feel me now

can you hear me
