Who Is My Neighbour?

I couldn't care less about where you're from

I don't care what language you speak

See

If you have an accent

Every day of the week

It's all the same to me

Actually

I do care,

Most say they don't

Thinking it's better to ignore skin colour

and hair texture

and clothing too

Me and you

Us and them

Ignore the fact we come from

a different stem

But still the same Noah trunk

Same Roots Adam and Eve

I mind if you're last name is Kei Jong

Or your first name's Steve

Understand I do mind

Samaritan or Jew

I want to know your story

I want to see your view

I want to hear your accent

I want to know your way

I want to taste your food

Please teach me how to say

Hello,

Thank you,

How are you,

I'm Fine

Goodbye

I love you

Isn't it time

To stop ignoring our differences

and Loving them instead

If your skin is olive, ginger

Chocolate

If your hair is black, brown, yellow, red

I love the melanin in your skin

and the Sulphur bonds in your hair

Yes I care

Excuse me if I stare

Diversity

Equals Beauty

To me

And I like

No

Love what I see

Hate is a poison

Discrimination the pestilence

We have the right to love.

But why hate your ancestors

and their descendants.

For what?

For their culture

For living

Dressing in kilts or kimonos

In Saris or Sombreros

Eating Fou fou or Feijoada

Chow mein or Enchilada

If society frowns on them

And so frowns on you

Believe

The Creator who made

every one of us is frowning on society too

Just because we wander

doesn't mean we're lost

Borders like bridges

are only good to be crossed

If good fences make good neighbours

Good walls would've brought world peace

Some call it a melting pot

I call it a new release

And the diversity will never cease

That's how it's supposed to be

We're all neighbours here see

We got plenty of place

On this tiny speck in space

If your freckled face

Or no lace

On your sandal shoes

If you wear a turban

Or watch Spanish news

If you eat with chopsticks

or listen to Dirty South blues

I care how you live

I mind what you do

Please share it all with me

and I'll share my culture with you

I see beautiful eyes, brown, green,

amber, grey, hazel, blue

If you've got heart and head

You're part of my crew

So other people may not,

But trust that I care

So if you need a good neighbour

Both tan and fare

Call me up, I'll be there.

Ask me who's my neighbour

I'll tell you plain and flat

Every single human

You gotta problem with that?
