Where Ya Going?

The Act of Writing

Writing can be like getting into a strangers car

More accurately, writing can be like getting kidnapped

Terrifying!

You don’t know where you’re going so you just have to pray to god that it’s somewhere good.

You’re scared because the place you end up could totally suck

What if the place the kidnapper takes you to is the middle of nowhere and you have nowhere to go?

You’re stuck.

At a dead end.

You just have sit calmly in the back of that car and hope hope for the best

Because the truth is when you start writing there are a million different paths you can take

Sometimes you know exactly what road you’re going to drive down but sometimes you get lost

Sometimes you have no idea where you’re going

Sometimes you lose a bit of control, maybe your car hits a tree and you’re stuck for a while

Sometimes the kidnapper doesn’t even know where he/ she is taking you

The act of writing is all about getting lost and finding your way

Finding out what you want to say

What you have to say

And hey if you have to get thrown in the back of a kidnappers car to find that-

So be it.
