When I Stare Across the Ocean

I fall into this trance

This state of mind where I think of a dance

The ocean people awaken and above the water they run

Singing aloud and holding hands is all they’ve ever done

The peace in my eyes

It surprised me

The feeling of tears

Surpassed me

It helped me

Realize what I wanted too

Life

Happiness

Sadness

All together within the palm of your hand

You were born to be you and showcase it

Being able to smile through tough times

Sometimes we feel we don’t belong

When all along

We do

It’s just that the people we want

Are not known by us yet

They are simply

Known

You may think you have no purpose

Or reason to this life

But that’s how it all begins

“I don’t belong here, I don’t fit in”

No one ever asks me where I am

“It’s all just sadness, I’m always upset”

I always try to differ from the rest

And that is when I’m at my best

When I can showcase myself to the world

Without feeling ashamed at all

That is a life you look forward to

People wanting you around and all

No more being alone

Although being alone reminds me of who I am

A man who started thinking by himself

Who didn’t need anyone next to him

Didn’t need anyone by his side

And now after all that time

I smiled for a while

And it reminded me

The tough tracks that stabbed themselves into me

And left a mark in my soul

Led Me To a Greater Path
