What We See

The Mere Essence of Challenging the Mind to See with What We Hear

What We See

To touch.

To smell.

To taste.

To hear.

To see.

The very things that make us human.

We are the lucky ones.

The very seed that we choose to plant into the Earth,

We watch blossom into this magnificent and delicate specimen.

As the sun rises we see something that resembles that

of a work done by Picasso.

Pink, orange, and purple are smeared across the sky in

strokes as if done by a paint brush.

Look up my friends, you might just see it.

Him.

There he stands.

Her.

There she stands.

Is this what the ideal person looks like?

Him, a chiseled face, a combover so meticulously done,

abdominals so prominent

That if you look close enough you might just be

able to sneak a peak through the tight fitted shirt hugging his body.

Her, a curvature so pristine, as thin as paper, breast that sit high upon her chest, hair silky smooth.

I envy the way the opposite sex marvels at her.

Turn your head to the left and you might just see a

happy couple with fingers intertwined.

From heights that seem unreachable, you see our city.

She lays there in the sky with her plateaus and peaks imbedded in

what might as well be canvas.

My friends, this is what we see.

We choose to see these things with our eyes.

We choose to see what we want.

We choose to simply see the first layer.

What if we chose to go beyond the depths of the two marbles imbedded in our skulls?

What if we used our ears to see?

What if our sight was no longer in our presence,

And we were forced to see with the less obvious?

The flower that has so beautifully blossomed,

I see because I hear her petals and leaves sway in the wind.

Beauty.

I see the works of the sky because of the silence that surrounds her.

I hear the brushstrokes taken place in the depth of the clouds when I wake.

Beauty.

I see him because of the way he speaks.

The articulation in his words helps me see his intelligence.

The way he speaks of the things that make his heart soar,

I see his heart.

Beauty.

I see her because of the way that she speaks of herself.

The way she manipulates the minds of those around her to make it seem as though she is beautiful.

I see it clearly now.

She has been stripped of her beauty.

I see the couple because of the way they verbally express their admiration for each other.

I see their love because they aren’t afraid to say it out loud so everyone in the world can hear it.

Beauty.

Our city.

I see her in the night sky because I hear the occasional silence of the streets.

I see her because I hear the occasional hustle and bustle of the streets.

Beauty.

I challenge you to open your ears and close your eyes.

Give it a try.

Ease your mind, challenge your heart.
