What the High School Scene Looks Like to Me
A poem with facts, my own experience, eye witness accounts & conversations. I am a 16-year-old 11th grade Hispanic/Latina female who goes to a minority based high school
The high school scene where you try & find out who you want to be
Where you might find out your sexuality or maybe just go through puberty
Where you might want to be an athlete
Or maybe just a math geek
Where drama roams around stress free
& you might want to get the person of your dreams
& you have to think about your college fees
That’s only if you want a higher degree
where the drop out rate is higher than a 1.3
& little girls having babies by guys who don’t want to stay & see their sons or daughters hit 18
Where being a street pharmacist is what most kids want to be
Because they do not want to repeat the high school scene
Because their GPA is less than a 2.3
& teachers don’t see them making it they only see them running the streets & having babies
& getting locked up for the whole world to see
But this is the high school scene where you may or may not just want to be seen
