What It Felt like to Love You
Pain is not paired with love.

End of discussion is your favorite line,
Sometimes you use it so you don't have to lie.
A burden, an encumbrance, a body of truth,
The ending to the beginning of new found youth.
Your words were confined to the highest shelf,
Too many times I've bruised by protecting you and not myself.
You encourage the ones who scathe you with a bloody knife,
As I withered away the more I gave you my life.
Now you slave with invisible chains and attend to their orders,
I no longer have the light I poured so much of into your dark corners.
