What Do You Say To A Heart?

A Poem

What do you say to a heart, that’s been broken and bruised?

A heart that’s been used and abused .

What do you say to a heart, that’s filled up with fear?

A heart that no longer knows love. This heart only knows how to cry tears What do you say to a heart, that doesn’t want to try again?

A heart that doesn’t want to open itself up again .

What do you say to heart, a heart that’s been lied to and stepped on?

Pulled out of chest and thrown away. What do you say to a heart, that doesn’t want to love anymore?

Do you say, it will be okay? Do you say it’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all?

Do you say take some time but never give up . What do you say to heart, that’s been used and abused?

What do you say to a heart, that doesn’t want to try?

A heart that always played the role of the nice guy

A heart that has never won because it was consistent in loving another human being.

Consistent in loving on a level beyond the physical and sexual.

Consistent in bring roses and sonnets

Lullabies and diamonds to make its mate

Feel wanted, feel special, and feel loved.

What do you say to heart, that just wants to give up?

A heart that can’t beat on its own

A heart that now is being sucked up by a black hole

What do you say to heart, that can’t figure out what they do wrong

When honesty doesn’t work. When being the initiator fails

When succumbing to their mates every need goes wrong

What do you say to a heart?

Do you tell it that it will always fail?

Do you tell it to be brave and have hope?

Or do you tell it walk on the ledge and hang love with a rope

What do you say to a heart, that’s been broken and bruised?

A heart that’s angry and tired of being misused

What do you say to heart?

That has no more strength

What do you say to a heart

That vows to never love again?
