What Better Place...Where?
Do you think that the Earth is wonderful?
What better place is there than the green Earth?
From the outset of discovery at
Infancy, the sea, land, and air gain worth.
Empty words pump into sounds that are pat.
Such words signal that they are all the mates
That we meet by the ice and by the fire.
The end of life is the finish line, fate’s
Band calls out for the stoppage with a lyre.
This is a wonderful planet of love.
No wars, famine, or scourges can compete.
The roots of them all don’t come from above
Or beneath the earth but at vice’s feet.
With no other worlds here, man must face facts.
Life ought to steer him to do the great acts.
