We Can Move

A Love Poem to Everyone

i feel the world dimming now

not my death i speak of

the death of the corners i thought to be safe

this is crazy and unthinkable and frightening

hopeless/no

there are people still standing/kneeling/speaking

something we hope for

a lump in my throat

i'm grieving alone

four walls around me/heaviness of fear

trying to breathe through the smoke

the floods

the children afraid/without shelter tonight

the glare of men not meant to lead

god

please

give us heroes

make us heroines

make us humane

we can eat and drink

we can laugh

we can fast in honor

and we can move

act challenge change adjust cry overcome

give me courage.
