Was It All a Dream?

A Poem for the Wandering Minds

Several hours pass by and you start to wonder,

"Was it all a dream?

Did it happen in the night,

In the middle of the stars and flashing city lights,

With the wind so still and quiet?

Or did it happen in the day,

With the dew fresh on the leaves,

And the heat of the rising sun trickling up your face?"

You stumble around,

A mundane routine that keeps you in a box.

Awaken. Shower. Eat. Work. Eat. Drink. Sleep.

Did it really happen

Or was it all a dream?

Did you appear to me,

Asking me to follow you

Into this rabbit hole of a scene?

Did you enchant me,

Seduce me,

Lead me to this place?

Did you break me and my so-called peace?

Did you open my eyes to this vivd reality?

Or was it all a dream?

About the Creator

Mari Quite Contrary

I believe everything happens for reasons unknown, but ultimately your decisions are your own. A 20-something beyond her years because I’m unapologetically myself.
