Wanted: New Brain
I think my old one is broken
Because, you see,
It wants me to die
So I need a new one
One not atrophied
From all these vicious thoughts
That seem to kill it
I need one
That won’t malfunction
Or try to end me
To put itself out of misery
One without trauma
Or poison in its crevices
One without ghosts
That lurk in its passageways
I am only 18
But this brain of mine
Sounds like a feeble old man
Asking for release
So I will pay any price
For one that won’t try to kill me
By making my hands linger
Over bottles of Tylenol
With fleeting thoughts
Of downing it all
