Walk With Me

A Poem

There are some people in life

That you are destined to walk beside

Fated to keep at an arms length

Your lines never crossing

Your lives always parallel

For when your lives cross

The goodness of yourselves

Begins to rot away

It turns to something lesser

Something that neither of you are

And you cease to be good for each other

But when you are apart

When you untangle yourselves

When you separate your lives

When you redirect your lines

You are better people

You are better for each other apart

Than you ever could be together

There are just some people in life

Who, despite all their appeal

Despite all their attractive qualities

Despite how much you care for them

They will never be destined to cross lines with you

So instead they walk with you in life

And you make each other better

You make each other who you are meant to be

You help each other succeed

And these people become the best friends

A person could ever ask for

heartbreak
