Waiting for Goodbye
Subtle love and longing hearts are but the mysteries of love in youth.
Dusk whipped up the sky
reflected in rust colored water
The starkness of white is dragged with dust as
it sweeps over dusty stones
Soft sighs touch pale cheeks
as they wind through the metal gate
Hooded eyes gaze down in wonder and regret
Longing
wishing that the night wouldn’t end
Parting was such sweet sorrow
the famous man had said
Nothing could tear them apart
Hands clasped together
prolonging the end
Soft lines and shy smiles
“Do you have to go?”
this question lingered in the air
Is this goodbye?
Hands clasped tighter
“Yes”
Would this be the last?
The last time skin would brush
Passing boring familial dinners
with hidden secrets beneath the sheet
No
Time would repeat on their next meeting
Marriage was around the corner
whoever said patience was a virtue lied
As we lie to the world
praying that the soul has found its missing piece
